The fire department says the men were injured at Orchard Beach on Pelham Bay in the Bronx on Sunday evening as bad storms rolled through the area. The men are being treated at a hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown. The lightning strike happened as heavy thunderstorms swept through the city. Torrential rain, thunder and lightning interrupted Labor Day weekend celebrations, halted play at the U.S.

Emaar Properties, developer of the Dubai Mall, to list part of its retail unit on stock market | Fox Business

The Dubai-based developer said in a statement Sunday that it expects to sell at least 15 percent of the company known as Emaar Malls Group in the offering. Like Emaar properties, the new company will trade on the Dubai Financial Market. Emaar’s retail business includes the vast Dubai Mall, the Mideast’s biggest shopping center. It is making 30 percent of the offering available to individual investors and the rest to institutional investors. The company’s retail and malls arm recorded $340 million in revenue the first six months of 2014.

Celebrity chef Todd English has been arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated in New York. Police in Southampton say the 54-year-old English was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on a county road on Long Island. Authorities say he posted $1,500 bail at Southampton Town Justice Court. An email to English’s representative wasn’t immediately returned. The chef’s full name is William Todd English.

The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/1u3PZAc) that Boyle’s $100 million brings the university $70 million closer to triggering Phil and Penny Knight’s matching $500 million donation that the Nike cofounder promised a year ago. The Knight Cancer Challenge is intended to make the university’s Knight Cancer Institute among the top cancer research facilities in the country. Knight Cancer Institute head Brian Druker says that when he was a grad student in California, he was mentored by Boyle’s sister, Hildegard Lamfrom. Druker then met Boyle and told her about working with her sister. Lamfrom had been a research scientist.
