Obama To Hold Border Crisis Meeting In Texas : Npr

The meeting comes as Obama faces pressure to visit the border while he’s in Texas this week to raise money for Democratic congressional candidates. The White House has resisted the calls largely from Republicans to take a firsthand look at the tens of thousands of children arriving from Central America. Among those calling for Obama to visit the border is Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry. Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett sent Perry a letter inviting him to Wednesday’s meeting in Dallas.

The administration has also said it wants Congress to give officials more authorities to process the children faster. But the president is also receiving criticism from immigration activists, who have long urged Mr. Obama to reduce the number of deportations of illegal immigrants already in the country. The president is expected this summer to announce steps he will take to moderate deportation policies, especially in cases where the deportations separate established families. Obama Urges Restraint For Israel, Palestinians : NPR

The president would welcome a meeting with you while he is in Texas, Jarrett wrote in a letter to Perry. Obama will be in Texas for political fundraisers in Dallas and Austin. Perry had earlier dismissed an invitation to meet Obama on the tarmac in Austin, the state capital. He instead suggested a private meeting on the surge of children and adults illegally crossing U.S. border, according to the Austin American-Statesman newspaper. Obama Intervenes In Afghan Presidential Election : NPR

Obama’s comments, published in Hebrew, Arabic and English, reflected growing U.S. concern about tit-for-tat violence spiraling out of control as the fragile situation in Israel appears to deteriorate. After dozens of rockets rained on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, Israel’s military on Tuesday launched an offensive operation including airstrikes that Palestinians said injured at least nine. Israel authorized the mobilization of some 1,500 military reservists in an escalation that evoked uneasy memories of Israel’s other incursions into the Hamas-controlled coastal strip. After the bodies of the three Israelis were discovered, Obama issued a brief written statement, but hasn’t spoken about the situation publicly.

Obama Still Using Coercion And Massive Fines In Unconscionable Attack On Religious Freedom

Criticism of Obama was not universal but emerged on both sides of the political spectrum, with former Vice President Dick Cheney attacking the president and left-leaning blogger Ezra Klein saying in a tweet that it was in bad taste. Presidential aides defended Obama, saying he takes time for golf to clear his mind and ease the stress of his pressure-packed job. “I will say that, generally, I think that, you know, sports and leisure activities are a good way for release and clearing of the mind for a lot of us,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters on Friday. Obama offers new birth control fixes to religious nonprofits, some for-profits companies | Star Tribune

“President Obama’s means of coercing compliance–ruinous fines when faith-based organizations refuse to violate their conscience–will impose incalculable harm on millions of children educated in faith-based schools, and the poor, sick, disabled and frail elderly who are served with such compassion and dignity by faith-based entities,” Smith said. “President Obama is arrogantly using the coercive power of the state to force faith-based charities, hospitals, and schools to conform to his will at the expense of conscience,” said Smith. ALSO ANNOUNCED TODAY was a proposal for applying a fake “accommodation” process to family-owned businesses like Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood. “The recent landmark Supreme Court decision exempted companies like Hobby Lobby from the mandate, and this overreach by the Obama Administration is intended only to ensnare family businesses back into the web of the mandate,” Smith said. The current so-called “accommodation” has been flatly rejected by over 120 nonprofit plaintiffs, including Wheaton College and the Little Sisters of the Poor, suing over this application of the mandate.

Obama and Holder hone their messages on race issues – CNN.com

In 2012, the shooting of unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman roiled the nation, and now there’s the Brown killing. “Any time a situation like this occurs, he becomes more of a more centrist, emotionally,” Granderson said Wednesday. “But in terms of what he is actually saying to the American people, he’s becoming much more thoughtful.” In the aftermath of the Martin killing and soaring gun violence in Chicago and elsewhere, Obama this year launched the My Brother’s Keeper program to provide mentoring and other support for African-American and Hispanic boys in rough neighborhoods. Holder, meanwhile, has launched 20 investigations of police practices and alleged discriminatory enforcement patterns in the past five years, more than twice the number of such inquiries in the previous five years. Calming affect? He said Wednesday that he hoped his visit to Ferguson would have a calming affect by showing the federal government was investigating.

Use Options For a Chance To Buy MMYT at a 28% Discount – Forbes

Investors who did not participate in the offering but would be a buyer of MMYT at a cheaper price, might benefit from considering selling puts among the alternative strategies at their disposal. One interesting put contract in particular, is the February 2015 put at the $22.50 strike, which has a bid at the time of this writing of $1.30. That would result in a cost basis of $21.20 per share before broker commissions in the scenario where the contract is exercised.
